Welcome to the Academy of Exploratory Arts (P.S. 179), a dynamic learning community where academic excellence and artistic expression go hand in hand. Located in the Mott Haven neighborhood of the Bronx, we are dedicated to providing a supportive and engaging environment for students in grades Pre-K through 5. Our mission is to foster a love of learning through exploration, creativity, and a strong sense of community.

At PS 179, the Academy of Exploratory Arts, we embrace a culture where being present and intentional is at the core of everything we do. We believe art is essential. Through our incredible partnerships with world-renowned institutions like the American Ballet Theater and Lincoln Center, we integrate dance, music, theater, and visual arts directly into our core curriculum, unlocking new ways for students to learn and succeed.
Performing and Visual Arts Program
We believe in the power of the arts to enrich learning. Our students benefit from a supportive arts program and partnerships with renowned organizations like Alvin Ailey and the NYC Ballet. We also offer after-school enrichment in the arts.
